The school photography industry has been stuck in the same routine for over 40 years, producing the same tired, uninspired photos that neither students nor parents look forward to. At Feather & Birch, we believe that school photos should be an exciting experience, not just another checkbox on the school calendar. Our goal is simple: to capture the genuine spirit of each student and create photos that your school community will love to display and share.

Hi, I’m Matty! At Feather & Birch I capture the real, the silly, and everything in between. Theres no stiff poses, awkward silence or boring moments here. I’ve spent my life capturing portraits in Australia and across the globe and in 2025 I’m bringing a fresh new approach to school photography.

I create images that reflect not only what the moment looked like, but what it felt like, so that means the kids are in for a tonne of fun.

I’ve spent 15 years in the wedding industry, but I’m now looking to reclaim some of my weekends. With that in mind, I’ve been increasingly drawn to the idea of school photography! I love working with children and I believe the industry is ready for a fresh approach.

I envisage building a business that delivers better outcomes for students, parents and teachers at the same or lower cost. Additionally, we can discuss opportunities during these shoots, or at other times throughout the year, to capture additional content for use in newsletters, yearbooks, and other school materials.
